As a Director of Fortitude action beyond compliance, I offer a unique and impactful approach to learning that allows me to draw on personal and professional experience. This has provided me with a diverse perspective on safety culture, effective team leadership and workforce engagement from “boardroom to worksite.”
Having entered the energy industry as an offshore technician in 1982, I found myself onboard Piper Alpha on July 6th, 1988. After surviving the horrific events of that night, I chose to continue working in the industry and went on to become an accomplished executive committed to keeping safety at the top of the corporate agenda.
I have accrued a wealth of experience in a range of UK and international senior operational, management and presidential roles across engineering, drilling, project management, health and safety, and as a management consultant.
Additionally, I have pursued an MBA to further enhance my knowledge and leadership skills in the ever-evolving energy industry.
I am Chairman for the Pound for Piper charity organisation founded in 2012, raising funds to support the upkeep of the Piper Alpha memorial gardens located in Hazelhead Park. I am also a former chair of the North Sea Chapter of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and a fellow of the Energy Institute.
Feel free to reach out to me for any queries or conversations.
